CATS-2023 (Comets, Asteroids, Exoplanetary Transits and Variable Stars) Online Scientific Conference
1–2 July 2023
Aim of the conference: to provide the younger generation with first-hand experience in participating in international conferences, demonstrate the practical benefits of using TESS telescope data to study variable stars, and introduce them to research on asteroids/comets.

2. Andrii Dzygunenko;
3. Dmytro Tvardovskyi.
Conference agenda:

Note No. 1: The organizing committee's fundamental position is that Russians, as representatives of a terrorist country, are not allowed to participate in the conference!
Note No. 2: All participants in the TESS-UA-2023A research project have priority to present their papers verbally.
Abstract publication: Journal of Physical Studies. ISSN 2310-0052 (Online), ISSN 1027-4642 (Print). Read the abstracts of the conference participants by following the link. The collection contains a total of 13 reports, including 4 reports on the results of TESS-UA-2022 and 2023A students. These abstracts are the first publication of our scientific results!
In addition, you can watch video recordings of some of the participants' reports on our YouTube channel here.
Results of the conference:
- Over the course of two days, 16 outstanding presentations were delivered at the conference, with 10 on the first day and 6 on the second. Four participants from TESS-UA-2023A, who were involved in researching binary stars as part of this project, also gave their presentations. Their presentations were of high quality, despite a certain lack of preparation.
- In addition to our students, scientists who were invited to the conference or who learned about it from friends or our social networks also presented the results of their work. Not only did they share their own expertise with the younger generation, but they also offered a number of suggestions regarding their work, provided valuable advice on the specifics of working with data obtained from space telescopes, described methods for researching celestial objects, and talked about various scientific grants and opportunities available to Ukrainians.
In conclusion, we would like to note that, overall, this conference was much more productive and large-scale than our First Step To The Stars workshop. The event was also very well-organized, and we would like to extend our special thanks to Andrii Dzygunenko and Maksym Mohorian for this!
We will definitely take into account the wishes of all participants and make some changes to the format of future conferences and our scientific research at TESS-UA.
