Our history
August 24. The idea was born to create an organisation dedicated to developing Ukrainian astronomy and providing multifaceted support for scientists.
September – October. Development of the concept and formation of the initial strategy.
November. Organisation of the first scientific project titled TESS-UA-2022, aimed at studying variable stars using data from the TESS space telescope; the beginning of writing and improving astronomy-related articles on Wikipedia.
January. Establishment of the first four departments: Scientific, Educational, Communication, and Wikipedian; recording of the basic version of the educational course, Variable Stars Lectures.
February. The first name change of our initiative – from the original Ukrainian Astronomy Project to New UA Astronomy Renaissance (NUAAR).
May – June. The first significant challenge within the team, which almost led to its dissolution.
July. The first scientific online conference, CATS-2023 (Comets, Asteroids, exoplanetary Transits and variable Stars), was held.
July – August. The dissolution of the former Wikipedian Unit and the creation of a new one – Wikipedian Unit 2.0.
September – November. Development of a series of methodological materials for students of educational and scientific projects and members of the Wikipedian Unit; organisation of the first partnership project titled "School of Reviewers" in collaboration with NGO Wikimedia Ukraine; failure of six projects due to the team’s lack of consistency and operational stability.
December. Despite internal challenges (such as a lack of people, absence of reserves, and limited experience), the core of the team was formed for the first time, thanks to the most active members.
February. Organisation of a partnership project with the YouTube channel "Vsesvit UA" to create a series of videos about stellar evolution.
May – June Establishment of a new unit – the Analytical Unit.
July. The launch of a large-scale Wikipedia project, Moonshot, within which the team simultaneously worked on 12 articles about the planets and moons of the Solar System, all of which were nominated for Good Article status over the following eight months.
August. The launch of the partnership project "Zorevyr 2: Through the Universe", in which we collaborated with Ukrainian artists to create a charitable artbook featuring personifications of cosmic objects.
September. Rebranding and renaming to Clear Skies Foundation.
January. Publication of the first full-fledged scientific article in a peer-reviewed academic journal.
January 27. The first offline event in Odesa was held as part of the 2025 Wikimarathon organised by the NGO Wikimedia Ukraine.
January – February. Gradual transition to a departmental structure.
February. Launch of the scientific project series Star Hunters – aimed at discovering new variable stars.
March. Establishment of two new units (IT and HR) within the Communication Department.
April. Establishment of the Archival Unit.
June. Establishment of the Unit of Strategic Wikipedia Growth.
July 26. The second overall and the first independently organised offline event, titled AstroGames, was held in Odesa.
