“The Amazing Adventures of Rosetta and Philae”

The CSF team has created a Ukrainian dub of the animated series “The Amazing Adventures of Rosetta and Philae” — a story of the exploration of the “Ukrainian” comet by the Rosetta spacecraft and its lander module.

Course of the research: The European Space Agency (ESA), which is engaged in the peaceful exploration of space for the benefit of humanity, planned an ambitious mission in 1993 — to reach a comet and, for the first time in history, land a spacecraft on it.

The main characters of this story were the Rosetta spacecraft, its Philae lander, and Comet Churyumov–Gerasimenko — the object of the mission’s study.

Comet Churyumov–Gerasimenko is one of many short-period comets. It was discovered in 1969 by Klym Churyumov and Svitlana Gerasimenko, researchers at the Kyiv University Observatory. Klym Churyumov always called their discovery a “Ukrainian” comet, so throughout nearly two decades of the Rosetta mission, this “Ukrainian” comet remained at the center of the global scientific community’s attention.

The Rosetta spacecraft was launched on March 2, 2004, and ten years later, its lander attempted a landing on the comet’s surface. The mission aimed to uncover the mystery of the origin of water on Earth and to study the evolution of the Solar System in greater detail.

• On September 30, 2016, the Rosetta mission came to an end and undoubtedly left a significant mark on the history of space exploration. The spacecraft’s journey to the surface of the rocky nucleus was long and full of unexpected twists. This remarkable story became the basis for an animated series created by the European Space Agency (ESA).

CSF’s involvement: After learning about the release of the animated series, our team decided that this story should be seen and heard by the Ukrainian community in Ukrainian. We proposed cooperation to the international organization ESA, and CSF’s Educational unit began the translation, editing, and voice-over production. Today, we are ready to present this animated series to you in Ukrainian dubbing.
